MDA Camp

This week it has been very hard for me to sit in the office at work because I know all of my friends are having so much fun at camp right now! I started volunteering as a counselor at MDA camp when I was a senior in high school and loved it so much that I went every summer in college too. This camp has given me a wonderful family of friends who are great. We have so much fun together and all act like little kids while we are there, no matter how old we are :) Camp is for the campers and so we pretty much do whatever we can to make them laugh and have a good time. There is always a time for the girls to dress like guys, guys to dress like girls, food fights, plenty of games, lots of swimming and then a wonderful prom when we all get to dress up. It is so amazing to see the campers, ages 5-21, let loose and enjoy life like any kid who doesnt suffer from a disability. JR first went to camp when he was 16 and always had so much fun that I decided I needed to join in. My first day there I was very scared. I honestly had never been around anyone with a disability before and was so afraid I would hurt them in some way. Boy did I soon find out, these kids are WONDERFUL. Just because their muscles do not work as well as other people's, doesnt mean they dont have a good time. These kids taught me more than any college degree ever could. They all live life to the fullest, and inspire me so much when they do it :) I can honestly say, I have never laughed so hard, cried so bad, or loved so much.

MDA family... I definitely miss yall right now. Have a blast for me too :)
