Relaxing weekend

JR and I had a much needed relaxing weekend! Friday night we had date night, went out to dinner and watched a movie. Saturday I had a softball game then we went to hang out with some friends to play horseshoes (Not going to say who the winner was, but lets just say she was the only girl playing and her name begins with an "L" haha). Then we came back to the house and had our first attempts at some of our favorite recipes: banana pudding and homemade salsa. Both turned out delicious and we will be enjoying them all week :) Sunday we went to church and then took a nice long nap! Then I got up and had more cooking time in the kitchen preparing for our week. Recently we decided that we would use Sundays as our prep days to get food ready for the rest of the week. I made a pasta, meatloaf, salad and tons of veggies that should last us at least a couple of days haha! I would recommend trying this if you havent, it really makes getting food ready after work a lot easier!!! I spent the rest of my Sunday in front of the monogram machine and now have some aprons and keychains to show for it :) Oh how I love relaxing weekends at home!!!

Happy Birthday Aunt Patty

Aunt Patty is my uncle Scott's wife. She and the rest of the Meadows crew live in Maryville, TN, where Scott is the football coach at William Blount High School. They have a daughter Megan who is a senior in high school, a son Drew who is a sophomore, a son Alec who is in 7th grade and a son Raymond that is 6, who you see in the picture :) They adopted Raymond a year and a half ago and he has been a delight to the entire family. I got to visit with the whole family when I went to the beach and we had a great time. Have a great day Patty! We love you!!!

Nicholas Sparks

I will have to admit that I am a pretty serious fan of Nicholas Spark's books. I have read almost everyone in his series and I am pretty addicted. This week I have had some rather lazy evenings so I was able to finish "At First Sight" which i had started during my travels this last month. Boy it was a page turner! Very surprising ending to which makes me want to immediately drive to pick up his next one "Dear John". Yes I love all of the sappy loves stories, but cmon you will all have to admit that the Notebook was one of the greatest love stories ever! (Even if you had to see it in the movies haha) Can anyone give me an Amen?!?!?

Here is the description he gives for "Dear John":

An angry rebel, John dropped out of school and enlisted in the Army, not knowing what else to do with his life--until he meets the girl of his dreams, Savannah. Their mutual attraction quickly grows into the kind of love that leaves Savannah waiting for John to finish his tour of duty, and John wanting to settle down with the woman who has captured his heart. But 9/11 changes everything. John feels it is his duty to re-enlist. And sadly, the long separation finds Savannah falling in love with someone else. "Dear John," the letter read...and with those two words, a heart was broken and two lives were changed forever. Returning home, John must come to grips with the fact that Savannah, now married, is still his true love—and face the hardest decision of his life.

Oh I cant wait!

Countdown to game day

Six weeks and counting!!! Yes I know it may seem crazy, but I have been looking forward to September 8th ever since the last game of the season :) Tennessee football is so exciting for JR and I, especially this year because we officially have our own seats. Check out this view we will have... Z12, row 44. Yea baby!!

My family has raised me to be a UT fan since I was a little. We even take our family pictures in all orange :) I know, I know...
My brother Tyler is still there as a student holding down the Griffin tradition. And I would put some good money on it that as long as UT gives my other brother Mason a good enough golf scholarship, he will be there as well in 2 years!

The first home game will also hopefully become a tradition for my sorority sisters and I starting this year. We are having our very first Phi Mu alumni tailgate and from what I can tell we are going to have lots of old friends join together with us. We are still working on all of the logistics for this to take place but as usual I am the master planner so we shall see how that goes :)

Here are some of my favorite pictures of my good ole Rocky Top Days! My blood will always be orange... AND I will always be that obnoxious girl jumping up and down every time she hears Rocky Top and singing as loud as she can :) Its great to be a Tennessee Vol!!!

Growing

Here is a recent picture of my cousin's baby Avery. Isnt he getting so big? I still havent got to meet the little dude yet, but hope to in September when JR and I head down to the Griffin reunion in Alabama. Until then, nothing but pictures :)

So proud of my brother!

Dad, Sue and Mason got home from Florida last night with good news to report. Mason ended up 23rd in a field of 127. There were boys from all over the country so that is pretty amazing! He has one more event next week and then his highschool season starts. There is no rest in site for the golf family in the near future but all of his hard work will surely pay off. So proud of you Mase!

Optimist International Junior Golf Championships

Today is Mason's last day at the International Junior Golf Championship in Palm Beach, Florida and I am so proud of him! Right now he is +6 and the leader is -1, which puts him about 40th out of 120 total players from all over the world. Here is the link where they update the scoreboard if you would like to check it out go Here. Great Job Moose!

Wedding Bliss

There was no doubt wedding bliss for all this past weekend. I had a great trip down to St. Petersburg, Florida and loved being a part of Jen's special day. Her friends and family were so wonderful to welcome me with open arms and great hospitality. I am so glad to have great new friends! I played the typical Lindsey role of decorator, extra wedding assistant, and anything else the Bride needed.... i love helping out friends at weddings! Maybe one day I will actually be able to do it for real haha. Congrats to the Booth's :)

Jen and Dave Booth

Tomorrow I am headed to Florida for the Booth's big day!! Jen was a friend right from the start when I began to work here at Southeastern. She is also an admin assistant and her office is right beside mine, so need less to say we have spent a lot of time together. Her and Dave met in undergrad at Liberty and will be getting married in Friday. Me and our other co-worker Leigh are flying out tomorrow to be there for her special day. It has been fun to go through all of the wedding planning with her and now see that her big day is finally here. No doubt she will be a gorgeous bride. I was lucky enough to get to already see her in the dress for the bridal shots.... boy did we have fun that day! On the road again... but wouldnt miss it for the world!!!

My husband the hiking man

JR has made two trips to the Smokey Mountains to hike parts of the Appalachian trail in the last 3 weeks. This is no doubt his favorite past time. He loves being outdoors in God's creation and the challenge he has to complete each hike. The first time he went he had Steve Graham with him (our friend Richmond's dad) and this last time he was by himself. He comes back with many stories of other hikers, a bear that he ran into, and of course lots of pictures of amazing views that he sees. I am glad that JR found time to go since he is so busy during school and this is not an option. I am even more glad that he realizes that this is a fun time for he and friends.... Lindsey is not going hahah. I camped with him one night before he took off on the trail, and lets just say sleeping in gravel when it is 60 degrees is not my cup of tea :) Good job sweetie! I am so proud of you.

The girls are back in town

This weekend was a celebration for the Looney's! Chris and Jenn are getting married in just 4 weeks so we gathered together friends this weekend to help them prepare. We started with a couple's shower at the Linvilles house. It was a great day for a cookout and as you can see I was pacified with their new little one, Cade. After that we had a lingerie party for Jenn, then dinner, then out on the town in Nashville with our matching tanks. What a fun night with the girls!!! Sunday we had an extra lazy day together watching episode after episode of Top Chef. I then got to spend the night with Tiffany and we had some major catch up time. I showed her the wedding video too and FINALLY got to give her her bridesmaid gift... what a sweet time.

JR and I are headed to TN again today after work. Yes i know AGAIN, but hey I have got some celebrating to do :) Saturday is Jenn's bachelorette party in Nashville. I am really excited to see her, Crystal, Jessie, Tiffany, Edgin, Doss, Melissa, Leslie and Wendy, among some other of her friends there in Nashville. It will be like a mini Phi Mu reunion!! Stay tuned for lots of pictures once I return Tuesday. Have a great weekend!

(The invite was personally made for Jenn by Jen Gray Inc. Jen is my friend here at work. Arent they so cute!)

Look how much she has grown!!

I love the brag about sweet little babies of my dear friends. I was recently checking out Haley's picture page http://picasaweb.google.com/HaleyGeabhart and just loved these pics of her little girl Gracie. She is 4 months old now and I cannot believe how fast she has grown!!! I love to go to her site to see the pictures since I cannot see her in person, sadly we are over 13 hours away :( Football season will come soon though and we will finally get to meet officially in Knoxville for the first game. I cant wait to kiss you sweet Gracie :) :) :)
