Saturday morning we celebrated with Deedee and Poppy for their 50th wedding anniversary! We also said farewell to Mamaw and Frank as they will be driving south for the winter. Right now they are thinking south Texas, but Lord only knows where they will end up :)12.20.2008

Fun Friday Cooking
In preparation from our family Christmas at Mimi's on Saturday, JR, Rachel, her boyfriend and I decided to make some goodies. We made cookies, cupcakes, sausage balls and pigs in a blanket. It is always so much fun to be in the Christmas cheer and getting to share our goodies with others ha! Even if it did take 4 hours to make and we were exhausted by the time it was over. Right Rach? :)

First week home
Can I just say WONDERFUL! That is all I can think about this past week of being home.. is how wonderful it is!!! There is nothing like being able to concentrate on serving your husband and taking care of your home... and having so much time to do it! This week I have been able to have breakfast ready for JR every morning, when typically we both fended for ourselves and were grabbing something on the way out the door. We also have been walking to his work in the mornings. It is a total of 3 miles and I love both the exercise as well as getting those 30 minutes with him on the way there. Then I would come home, have a quiet time, check my emails/blogs/facebook, and then start sewing! In between my machine doing its thing for embroidery I am able to do laundry, pick up the house and whatever else it is that I need to do. I have planned to have a lunch date with a girlfriend each week, and Miss Rachel Babb was the first on my list b/c we have been meaning to for about a month now ha! But now I have time... hooray :) Then of course I have time to get dinner ready wen JR gets home. This week's nights have been somewhat crazy getting Griffin's room ready, babysitting and packing for TN.
With ALL of that said, I have LOVED every minute of it :) And I am pretty sure JR is liking it as well too ha!

Crib mattress
I need some advice from all of you moms that have already purchased a crib mattress. Now that we have the crib obviously we need a mattress ha! I was at Target yesterday and found a Sealy on sale. It is fire proof and has a 10 year warranty. What else should I be looking for? Do I need to pay the $100 something dollars they cost at Babies R Us or does it really matter? I am just wanting to make sure I am doing the best for Mr. Griffin, but of course if its okay I will take the sale if we can!!! :)

Week 22
Only 3 more weeks until our 3rd trimester! Man isnt that crazy ha??? Well this week has been very similar to the past few weeks in where I can feel Griffin moving all over the place! He continues to be active after I eat and in the middle of the night.. I hope that means he doesnt have his days and nights mixed up!! I am really enjoying being at home now, as it now seems that my priority can be solely on getting ready for him. Not just his room, but physically staying in shape, reading up on all the books I have been wanting to read, and praying for him as he continues to grow. I cant help but let my mind wander to what he will look like, what his personality will be like, etc. Oh I cant wait :)
At 11 inches (the length of a spaghetti squash) and almost 1 pound, your baby is starting to look like a miniature newborn. His lips, eyelids, and eyebrows are becoming more distinct, and he's even developing tiny tooth buds beneath his gums. His eyes have formed, but his irises (the colored part of the eye) still lack pigment. If you could see inside your womb, you'd be able to spot the fine hair (lanugo) that covers his body and the deep wrinkles on his skin, which he'll sport until he adds a padding of fat to fill them in. Inside his belly, his pancreas — essential for the production of some important hormones — is developing steadily.

Marathon Painting Part 2
After work JR and Phillip finished up the 2nd coat of the stripes and then when I got home from babysitting was time to pull the tape off!!! Oh that was the most wonderful thing ever.. to be able to see what was underneath that nice brown tape. (Thanks for the comments Tara and Jenn, no we decided not to leave it on ha!)

The ABC bedding. I know it is supposed to probably go around the other way (with the green facing the inside of the crib and the letters on the outside), however I really wanted to be able to see the letters and patterns and we couldnt through the bars so we changed it up and put it on the inside so when you look inside you can see it all!

Removing the last piece of tape!
And here it is! Beautiful blue and blue stripes :)
My project man was now done with the paint but right on to the next one.. the crib and dresser! Arent you proud he read the directions ha!

Taking joy in the little things

So it may not sound like anything too big, but yesterday I got one of the best surprises at my doorstep! You see this weekend while cleaning out my craft room to make room for JR's office to join me, I came across some pictures I had printed off to put in Griffin's scrapbook. Well of course I knew I would finally have time to do that once I was out of work and so that made me excited. Well just the night before JR and I had sat down to do our budget and it occurred to me that I may not be able to just spend money freely on scrapbooking as I had in the past (can I get an amen that it is a bit expensive!) Anyways I just sat the pictures aside and was okay that I may just have to put them in a photo album for now. Well yesterday when the mail ran I was pleasantly surprised to get a package in the mail from one of my sweet friend's mothers. I wont say any names but I know she reads my blog and she knows who she is :) Anyways sure enough I opened the package and it was a baby blue scarpbook and 2 sets of paper and stickers for a baby scrapbook. I immediately teared up and all I could do was say, Thank you God! I know that she had no idea how much this gift would bless me and how it came at the perfect time! But I do know that she also knows God provides in myserious ways and I thank her for allowing God to bless me by using her.
Thank you my wonderful gift giver, and thank you most of all to my God who I know will always take care of me.

Sunday School Christmas Party
This weekend was our weekend for Christmas parties for sure! Saturday night we had our party with our Sunday School class from church. This is my favorite picture of the night b/c it made me so happy that sweet Lily loved her tutu that I made for her SO much that she just had to wear it to the party haha!
And this would have to be 2nd runner up. Jay was such a trooper in our reindeer game :)
