The bumbo seat and questions for moms

Funny story: Last Friday during lunch I decided to roam around on Craig's List to see what sort of baby goodies I might find. We have decided not to get anything until we find out what the gender is, however when I found this Orange Bumbo I thought... but orange can go either way :) Anyways I just emailed the seller to see if they still had it or not because I knew that we had seen these seats that were all the new rage all over the place, however I had never seen an orange one. So I get a phone call about 15 minutes later and it was Christina. We talk all the time so I didn't think anything of it until she said, "hey are you looking for a Bumbo seat?" I laughed and said yes, but still didn't catch on that SHE was the seller. This was Isaac's seat that she received from her friend and he never quite got into sitting in it... so NOW its Baby Isham's. Thank you Todd family.. we are so excited :)



Okay all of you mom's out there.. I know of Craig's list, ebay and such, but where are some other places to find good deals on baby items?

We are also in the midst of thinking about a crib and nursery furniture and are in limbo as to whether we should try and find a used one that we can afford, or if we should go all out and buy a really nice one that can make it through all of the Isham children. I am all about being realistic so I am asking you for the truth... can you really re-use the crib with each child? Also where is the best place to find the most reliable, nice and good quality furniture? Have any suggestions on where to look that you have already found?

Good old fashion Corntoss

These past few weeks we have had a Corntoss league for intramurals. Leigh, Abby and I made up the girl team Carter and it was so much fun! I obviously cannot play any contact intramurals anymore so I was thankful that we started this new game this year. All of those TN tailgates paid off I think too :)

9 weeks

And BAM.... there it is! Haha for some reason at night my belly is showing more than during the day. This was last night at about 9:30 and as you can see there is a little "bulge" as I like to call it :) I am feeling a lot better this week as apposed to the constant nausea that I have felt the past 3 weeks. My energy seems to be back as well, so I am feeling like a new woman! Of course there are still bad days, but overall I cant complain. Once I started feeling better last weekend, I began asking my other friends who had been or are pregnant if I should be worried since I was not feeling sick anymore (almost as if the sickness assured me that everything was okay).... and ALL of them said, "NO girl, you enjoy your easy pregnancy while it lasts!"

I will have to admit that this waiting between each appointment has been hard. My next appointment isnt until week 13 so I have 4 more weeks before then and it is so nerve racking! I am anxious to get past this first trimester to say the least and I know that God does not want me to be fearful, but instead trusting in Him that He is in control. From the little that I have already learned about what my life is now like as a mom, I can definitely say it is easier to not be fearful of things for my own sake, but a lot harder when it comes to my little one... and yes I know there is so much more of that to come :)

How your baby's growing:

Your new resident is nearly an inch long — about the size of a grape — and weighs just a fraction of an ounce. She's starting to look more and more human. Her essential body parts are accounted for, though they'll go through plenty of fine-tuning in the coming months. Other changes abound: Your baby's heart finishes dividing into four chambers, and the valves start to form — as do her tiny teeth. The embryonic "tail" is completely gone. Your baby's organs, muscles, and nerves are kicking into gear. The external sex organs are there but won't be distinguishable as male or female for another few weeks. Her eyes are fully formed, but her eyelids are fused shut and won't open until 27 weeks. She has tiny earlobes, and her mouth, nose, and nostrils are more distinct. The placenta is developed enough now to take over most of the critical job of producing hormones. Now that your baby's basic physiology is in place, she's poised for rapid weight gain.

Sewing Sunday

This past Sunday I finally got some motivation and decided to fulfill my friend Jessica Lewis's order! I am so excited to be making these things for her for a good friend of ours and I just know that the new baby girl will LOVE all of the pink, just like her mom and Aunt Jess :)


And knowing that if there was ever going to be a John Deer Queen in my lifetime, it would be the little girl of my friends Tabitha and Trampas! So I made these burp clothes and a blanket for sweet Emma Rue :)

Time with the Walker's

Last night we got to spend some time with the Walker family as it was our turn to take them dinner! I still cant believe Jackson is 9lbs and 9 ounces (and that was the last time they checked so he is probably more now!) When I was holding him last night I just looked at Amy and said, "I still cannot believe this BIG thing was curled up inside of YOU just 2 weeks ago :)


Jackson's floor time with Dad. BJ was keeping him awake so that he would sleep at night and he did really well at it! I love seeing BJ morphed into Dad mode :)

Over the Hill at 3-0!

Friday night we helped the Lewis family celebrate Michael's big 30th birthday! Jordan surprised him by having a ton of friends at the Mexican restaurant and it was a success! We had a great time!

Trampas, Tabitha and Gracie Rue Welcomed Emma Genevieve Rue into the world this morning. Tab had a C-section. She weighed a whopping 9 lb and was 21 inches long. I stole this information from Maranda's blog ha! thanks for the info :)

Today is Tabitha's c-section! Please pray for her, Trampas and Gracie as they prepare to welcome Emma into the world. As soon as I hear something I will let everyone know :)

8 weeks

Hearing the heartbeat for the first time this week was the best sound we have ever heard! Yes it seemed fast, but thats what the doctor said was normal. And I keep saying that at 143 beats per minute, the baby was trying to tell us that she loved us :)

I am still feeling ok. Right now the biggest thing for me is to find something that I want to eat that actually tastes good when I get to eat it. Several times I have craved something and once I had it, it just wasnt the same! I can also tell that I cant suck in quite as good as I used to be able to. By no means am I "showing" however I can definitely tell my body is changing :) I will post a picture of my belly once you can actually tell something.. dont worry ha!


New this week: Webbed fingers and toes are poking out from your baby's hands and feet, his eyelids practically cover his eyes, breathing tubes extend from his throat to the branches of his developing lungs, and his "tail" is just about gone. In his brain, nerve cells are branching out to connect with one another, forming primitive neural pathways. You may be daydreaming about your baby as one sex or the other, but the external genitals still haven't developed enough to reveal whether you're having a boy or a girl. Either way, your baby — about the size of a kidney bean — is constantly moving and shifting, though you still can't feel it.

8 week ultrasound

Today we had our first doctor's appointment and it was AMAZING! We just love our doctor, Dr. Holton, AND we got to hear baby Isham's heartbeat so of course that was something we had wanted to hear for so long. It was 143 beats per minute strong and I am measuring right where we had expected with a due date of April 22nd. As you can see from the ultrasound picture the baby has grown quite a bit in the last 2 weeks since our last ultrasound (pic here). We will go back in 4 weeks for our next appointment and until then just continue to ask for your prayers for Baby Isham. God is so good!
