I could go on and on about how blessed I have been with friends while at the seminary and I am so thankful! Sadly we had to say goodbye to one of them this week. The Couch family are heading to Florida! This picture was at their going away dinner with Rachel, Canon, Laurie, Faith, Griffin and I.

Griffin is 18 months old!
It is so hard to believe that our sweet Griffin is 18 months old! We had his 18 month check up today at the doctor and he weighs 24 lbs 14 oz (35%) and is 32 3/4 inches (60%). He unfortunately had to have his last round of vaccines and they made him very sad... but we were thankful for a healthy report! He definitely knows whats going on at the doctor when we go now and so I was doing everything I could to keep him calm and talk to him about what was going to happen. Much to my dismay, as we were waiting in the waiting room a little boy came up to him and appeared to be going to give him a hug, but instead grabbed two handfuls of Griffin's hair instead. It was AWFUL! Griffin screamed bloody murder and I sat there shocked before trying to pry the boys' hands off him. What a way to stay calm huh? ha
This time last year Griffin was just a little guy! Wow how times flies... He is such a big boy now!

We are having so much fun these days in "toddler" world. Griffin is ALL boy.. the dirtier the better! And of course loves his sweets :)
He is also obsessed with tractors and had his day made last weekend when he got to sit on one for the first time! We can ride down the road and he will spot a "ractor" a mile away and yell!
His favorite book to read is the Bible. Of course this makes his mommy and daddy proud, but he genuinely loves to read it. He always wants to take his own Bible into church too. We read it OFTEN!
His love for "futball" has continued to grow! Again, we love football so we are thankful he does too but we had no idea how much he would love it at such an early age. He wants to throw the ball anytime he sees it and will also sit and watch a game when its on TV. We definitely have an athlete on our hands too.. he has great hands!!
He recently got his first car!
He has mastered the "Cheese!"
He really enjoys his Sunday school class and his favorite part is to paint!

24 weeks
Only 15 more weeks to go?!?! I know I say this every time.. but wow this is going fast! Carter is extremely active ALL the time these days and it is a nice reminder that he is on his way. We had a checkup for 22 weeks and I continue to be blessed with a "boringly healthy" report. Our next appointment we will get to schedule our c-section date, aka his birthday.. YAY! My belly is growing rapid speed this time as I am coming a little too close to the total weight gain I had for Griffin ALREADY! My belly button has popped as well.... the joy of the changes a pregnant mom's body goes through :)
Your baby's growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. That puts him at just over a pound. Since he's almost a foot long (picture an ear of corn), he cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but his body is filling out proportionally and he'll soon start to plump up. His brain is also growing quickly now, and his taste buds are continuing to develop. His lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help his air sacs inflate once he hits the outside world. His skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon.

Fall break with Auntie Rach
We were blessed by the presence of my lovely sister all last week for her fall break! Griffin has loved her from the first moment they met, and that love continues even more. It was sweet to watch him follow her around, climb into her lap and love on her. I love my sister and am so thankful for our time together :)

Griffin LOVES his Mimi and Potts!
Mimi and Potts made their annual Fall visit with us and we were so excited to have them. Griffin is getting really good at entertaining our guests these days and it was so sweet that every morning when he woke up he said, "Mimi, Potts?" wandering if they were still there. They arrived Saturday afternoon and we were thrilled to be able to bring them to our church's fall festival with us. JR had worked very hard, as this was his first event to put on for the community and it all went VERY well!
Sunday was Mimi's birthday so between church services we took her to her favorite (and mine too!) the Red Lobster! I love having her here with us to celebrate her special day and it means the world to me that she always asks to come and see us as her one wish. Love you Mimi :)
Monday we went on a spoiling spree... of course what are great grandparents for?? We are so thankful for all that Griffin was given as it was definitely a blessing! My favorites would have to be his new balance shoes and his new big boy bedding. More on the new room soon!
Thank you Mimi and Potts for making the trip to come and visit us! We always cherish our time together!!!

22 weeks
126 days to go... minus a week! We had a doctor's appointment today and I was blessed with another "boringly healthy" report. We will go back next time for the glucose test and soon after I'll be in the last trimester! I know understand why they say the second pregnancy goes by quicker... I feel that for sure! I am still feeling wonderful and Carter is still an active one. I have gained 12 pounds thus far and the weight has definitely came on quicker this time unfortunately, but I'll deal I guess as long as he is healthy :) Funny story this week is that Pastor Jacob talked about bacon in his sermon illustration yesterday and ALL I could think about from that point forward was a BLT sandwich. I am so lucky to have a husband that spoils me with my cravings... we both enjoyed a BLT that night ha!
At 11 inches (the length of a spaghetti squash) and almost 1 pound, your baby is starting to look like a miniature newborn. His lips, eyelids, and eyebrows are becoming more distinct, and he's even developing tiny tooth buds beneath his gums. His eyes have formed, but his irises (the colored part of the eye) still lack pigment. If you could see inside your womb, you'd be able to spot the fine hair (lanugo) that covers his body and the deep wrinkles on his skin, which he'll sport until he adds a padding of fat to fill them in. Inside his belly, his pancreas — essential for the production of some important hormones — is developing steadily.
