Family Date Night

With anticipation of our little girl coming soon, we took advantage of a night that we could all go out together as a family of four. Our hopes of walking around downtown were put on hold since it was raining, however we did get to see Ironman 3!

Week 36

week 36Babycenter says at 36 weeks, Lexi Grace is still packing on the pounds — at the rate of about an ounce a day. She now weighs almost 6 pounds (like a crenshaw melon) and is more than 18 1/2 inches long. She's shedding most of the downy covering of hair that covered her body as well as the vernix caseosa, the waxy substance that covered and protected her skin during her nine-month amniotic bath. Your baby swallows both of these substances, along with other secretions, resulting in a blackish mixture, called meconium, will form the contents of her first bowel movement. At the end of this week, your baby will be considered full-term.

Full-term is what we are going for!

Total Weight Gain: 19 lbs

Gender: IT’S A GIRL!!!!!

Movement: She is running out of room and therefore isn't as active as before, however I really think this is the normal amount of movement that most moms feel.

What I miss: With contractions coming just about daily, I miss not having to stop everything and go lay down like I have to now. It makes it difficult to get anything done during the day because if I do too much they just get worse. But it will all be over soon!

Sleep: Very hard to get comfortable but sleeping fairly well.

Symptoms: On Wednesday and Thursday of this week I had very consistent contractions and ended up calling my doctor.  He checked me and said I was definitely thinning out but not dilated yet. They were not concerned about Lexi and said she would be ready to come anytime now! That made it all very real for sure knowing that they would go ahead and take her if I did go into active labor from this point on.

Cravings: strawberries and Italian ice

What we are looking forward to: Now that we realize she literally could be here any day now, we just cant wait to meet her!!! All showers are done, nursery is done and bags are packed. We are as ready as we will ever be!

Notes: The boys have been so sweet and are realizing that I havent been feeling as well. “Mommy, is Lexi going to come out of your belly today?” They cant wait Smile

Last Day of School

We have been so blessed by Ridgedale Mother’s Day Out and were sad that today was our last day! The boys really enjoyed all the learning the did and the friends that they made and I of course too enjoyed teaching there. We will miss everyone!

I had entirely too much fun designing this sweet girl’s nursery! After two boys and the obsession with Pinterest, I knew there would have to be much color and fun for her! I was bummed that since we are renting I couldn’t paint her walls so we had to bring in the color in many other ways! I had many a DIY projects and with the help of Hobby Lobby and family & friends we made it happen!

I started the room knowing her color scheme. I wanted hot pink, turquoise and hints of lime green. I went fabric shopping and found the perfect whimsical print with just that and plenty of coordinating fabrics. I was very blessed by a friend who handmade her bumper and bedskirt. I was thrilled with how it turned out!

Next I knew I wanted her to be surrounded by scripture. I was inspired by this pin and with the help of another precious friend we created her print above her bed. I also fell in love with several other scripture prints that I created and scattered about her room with fun frames.

I also knew she had to have a gallery wall above her dresser because of pins like this and this. Bring in Hobby Lobby frames, some paint, a mirror and a few extras and it happened! I really wanted a coordinating changing pad cover for her bedding and so I used this tutorial and made one out of my favorite, chevron!

For her bookshelf, I wanted more color but decided to use things we already had to decorate. So out came her shoes (can you believe I’ve been given all of those, except the one I just couldn’t help myself with!?!), hairbows, toys, burp cloths and bibs. I did make her hairbow holder out of a frame I already had and coordinating ribbon; it was very easy with a hot glue gun!

A few more sewing projects were done: pillows, bunting, table skirt, and adding blackouts to the ruffled curtains. The lamp was another fun DIY project, again bring out the hot glue! The only thing we are waiting on now are her newborn photos that I’ll have printed below her shelf and above her bookshelf. Cant wait to see what the fabulous Sam Angel captures!

It was so much fun and yes a lot of work but I am very pleased with how it all turned out! I think I can sleep at night now knowing all the projects are done… or at least I hope This room was done on a crafting mom and coupon budget. I didn’t pay full price for ANYTHING and used any money that I made creating other crafts for people to put into her room. It took way more time, as I’ve been working during naps and at night since January, but it was well worth it in all the money saved! I hope to inspire many more moms out there to know that you too can be crafty and make any room fun!

34-35 weeks

L&Tshower_2.21.13_23

34 weeks at her baby shower

I’ve again been slacking over the past month but we are growing GROWING! I’ll include two weeks in this update since I was able to go to the doctor this week as well.

Babycenter says at 35 weeks, Lexi Grace doesn't have much room to maneuver now that she's over 18 inches long and tips the scales at 5 1/4 pounds (pick up a honeydew melon). Because it's so snug in your womb, she isn't likely to be doing somersaults anymore, but the number of times she kicks should remain about the same. Her kidneys are fully developed now, and her liver can process some waste products. Most of her basic physical development is now complete — she'll spend the next few weeks putting on weight.

Total Weight Gain: 18 lbs… seeing numbers on the scale that arent fun but hopeful I’ll lose it all just like with the boys!

Gender: IT’S A GIRL!!!!!

Movement: When Dr Myers was checking her heartbeat she kicked him, twice. He laughed and said, “Well she’s active!” I laughed and said, “Um yes VERY!”

What I miss: Not having a bruised ribcage. She is sitting up so high on my right side that I constantly have to push her down. I have a short torso so I feel bad that she doesn’t have room but it definitely is uncomfortable!

Sleep: Very hard to get comfortable but sleeping fairly well.

Symptoms: This past month has brought on the braxton hicks, more stomach ligament stretching that’s painful, acid reflux and just simply uncomfortable. My body often tells me to STOP and rest, although its hard to do. These past 2 weeks I’ve had contractions daily but of course they arent anything worth calling the doctor over, just annoying. I really wish there was a button to tell my body there was no need to prepare itself, we are going to cut her out Smile

Cravings: ice ice baby

What we are looking forward to: We will now start weekly doctor’s visits. I’m looking forward to seeing what the doctor says when he checks me this next week. Who knows.. she may decide to come early?!?

Notes: This is my last week of work and then we will spend the following 3 weeks to do last minute prep and enjoy our time as a family of 4 before ALL of our worlds’ change. For the better of course!

I still remember the first time I saw you. I had dreamed of being a Mommy since I was a little girl and you were more perfect than I could have ever imagined. To look into your eyes and see you look back at me was incredible. To know that hearing my voice calmed you and being able to kiss your sweet cheeks anytime I wanted was amazing. I had no idea that kind of love and happiness you would bring to my life… and now 4 years later you are still making me the happiest mommy alive. SO blessed that you made me a mommy, so thankful you are my little boy and so grateful and proud of you!

Orange and White Game

2013-04-20 15.01.20

Even though it was a very busy day with the birthday party, we couldn’t miss the Orange and White game later in the day so we packed up and threw on our orange!
