Carter James

We have officially decided on our baby boy's name...

Carter James Isham

Carter is a family name on JR's side. His uncle, who we affectionately called "Bubba", was James Carter and also his mom's grandfather was a pastor and his name was Carter. I have always loved the name Carter even before I knew it was his family name and therefore all of the above gave it a YES! James is JR's first name, as well as his dad's, his dad's dad, Bubba, and my stepfather as well. On top of that, God has really been teaching both of us a lot out of the book of James, so it too seemed perfect for his middle name. The doctor determined that the due date is now officially February 14th based off the ultrasound. This puts week 39 (when I will have a c-section) at February 7th... or sometime that week. We are at week 19 currently and almost 1/2 way there. HOORAY!!!

It's a BOY!!!

We were all SO eager to go to our ultrasound today to find out boy or girl and it became VERY obvious Carter was ALL boy quickly! The ultrasound tech in fact didnt even have to tell me, instead I said, "Well I know what that is... I've seen that before!" haha

JR and I both were thinking ALL boy from the beginning so we were right! After being blessed with such an amazing little boy the first go around we are so grateful for another. We truly couldnt be happier for Griffin to have a little brother. I hope that they will be the best of friends right from the start and look forward to watching them play together! Ahh my heart is full today, thank you Jesus :)

We ended up moving back the due date to February 14th.. yes VALENTINES DAY! The first ultrasound we didnt get all that great of a reading so we took the measurements from today. It is not really upsetting though bc even though its a week later, I will have a scheduled c-section at 39 weeks so it will still be the 2nd week of February. I'm pulling for the 7th :)

Wordless Wednesday

Bummer!

We went to the doctor today and sadly we didnt get to have an ultrasound. We had been waiting on pins and needles for weeks now so it was disappointing but there were MANY positive things that did happen. First off, the baby and I are very healthy. We got to hear the heartbeat and the doctor said it was a very active little baby. Secondly we do get to have an ultrasound on Monday to check all of the baby's measurements and also find out the gender... like for real this time :) And we talked about c-section vs. VBAC and decided that a scheduled c-section was the best choice for us. We will schedule this around our 30 week appointment and they typically schedule them for 39 weeks. I am very excited about this because A)this relieves all of the anxiousness about wandering if I can actually deliver vaginally and B) the timing will be scheduled in advance- this is thrilling for a Type A planner like me :)

We did like the new doctor's office and Dr. Beaty was very nice. We will more than likely be able to pick both our date of delivery as well as our doctor, so that eases the worry about not knowing the doctor that will do the delivery. Overall we are VERY thankful for all good news and most importantly a healthy little baby!!

Labor Day Weekend

We had an eventful, yet relaxing weekend enjoying the beautiful weather this Labor Day weekend! Friday we headed to Hill Ridge Farms so that Griffin could see the animals. He is very intrigued by animals these days and especially likes to try and make the noises that they make :)

Saturday we had to get in our ORANGE for UT's first game!

Griffin also got to go to his very first college football game!!! Even though it wasnt our favorite team, we have developed a liking to Duke since living in NC and were thankful for free tickets- thanks Wes and Ashley!!

We were so shocked that Griffin intently watched the game, allowed us to stay until 2 minutes left and even threw up his hands and said "TOUCHDOWN!" at the right time :)

Monday we cleaned the house, washed the cars and just enjoyed all being together! Griffin enjoyed helping Daddy :)

18 weeks!

Here we are at 18 weeks- baby and I both doing very well, just growing and growing! We are very eager for our doctor's appointment tomorrow morning. It will be our first meeting with our new group of doctors and the first check we have had on the baby since 8 weeks. The reassuring thing for me along the way has been that my belly keeps on growing and the baby keeps on kicking ha! I honestly cant lay down at night without little Mr. Active letting me know he is there :) I also finally stepped on the scales for the first time in awhile and have gained 5 pounds. It honestly felt like a whole lot more so I'll take that!!!



Our baby is a baby is the size of a bell pepper this week. How funny!

Head to rump, your baby is about 5 1/2 inches long (about the length of a bell pepper) and he weighs almost 7 ounces. He's busy flexing his arms and legs — movements that you'll start noticing more and more in the weeks ahead. His blood vessels are visible through his thin skin, and his ears are now in their final position, although they're still standing out from his head a bit. A protective covering of myelin is beginning to form around his nerves, a process that will continue for a year after he's born. If you're having a girl, her uterus and fallopian tubes are formed and in place. If you're having a boy, his genitals are noticeable now, but he may hide them from you during an ultrasound.

I had to include this picture of Griffin practicing to be a big brother! This stroller is at church, along with plenty of baby dolls.. and I can honestly say I didnt prompt this at all!! He is going to be such a good big bro :)

Happy 49 years!

Happy Anniversary to my Mimi and Potts! Today they celebrate 49 years and I think its safe to say that the best part of this year has been these two new great grandsons!!

It is such a blessing to see two people still so in love and I am so grateful for the wonderful marriage they live out before me.
