Happy Birthday Susu!

Today is Sue's birthday! I am so incredibly thankful that God saw it fit for her to be in my life. She is an amazing wife, stepmom, and friend. We have shared laughter and tears and through it all I love our times we have shared. From cooking to beach trips, sewing to a trip to Vegas together... we have had many fun times :)I look forward to many more memories with her and am ever so grateful for her love and support through the years. I love you my Susu!

The Harrison's faith through hard times

What a testimony Jonathan and Alicia have given to everyone around them these last several months. They are great friends of mine from college who have had a very hard past couple of months, and through it all remain faithful to God and surrendered to His ultimate plan. Alicia was about 3 months pregnant when they found out that their baby did not have a bladder. They did several tests to try and figure out what exactly was wrong and last week found that the baby's kidneys were not working and therefore she would not survive once out of the womb. I received this email today from them:

"Hello Everyone,
Hope this message finds you well. We wanted to take a moment to update everyone on what is going on with baby. Early Saturday morning Alicia's water broke and we went straight to the hospital. At 1am early Sunday morning our baby girl Catherine Grace Harrison was born and went to her Father in heaven. We did get to spend some precious time with our baby girl and get to see how wonderfully made she was. Catherine Grace weighed 12 oz and was10 1/4 inches long. We were happy to see she had her mom's little blonde hair and long fingers and toes and her dad's mouth. Alicia was strong during the labor and delivery and did not suffer any complications. We are released from the hospital now and back at home. Although we are very upset with the situation and hurting inside, we still know that this is God's will and that our girl is now in heaven with no pain or suffering. She will always be in our hearts and memories forever.
We will never forget all of the messages, prayers, emails, flowers, letters, and love that all of our friends and families have given us through this time. Also, all of those people who have heard about our situation and prayed for us although they have never met us. One thing I have learned through all of this is that God is always in control of every situation in our lives and how precious and miraculous life itself is. We would like to leave you guys with some of the bible verses that comforted us through this time. Thanks again for everything you have done."
God bless,
Jonathan and Alicia
"The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you, he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid, do not be discouraged." Deuteronomy 31:8
"May the God of hope fill you with all the joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." Romans 15:13
"Be still and know that I am God" Psalms 46:10
"For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mothers womb. I praise you cause I am fearfully and wonderfully made: you works are wonderful, I know that full well." Psalms 139:13-14

This is a true testimony for sure of their faith in God and I cannot even imagine what they are going through right now. If everyone would please continue to pray for them as they process through all of this and continue grieving over the loss of their precious baby girl. I love them both dearly and hurting for them as we speak. Let this be a reminder to us all that life is a TRUE MIRACLE of God and we should never take it for granted.

"While you were out"

My mom's very favorite thing to watch is HGTV and she has been called "Martha Stewart" many many times. This weekend, JR and I were lucky enough to have the wonderful designer herself in our home. We had another day of girl's shopping Sunday after church, then Mom decided to do her own version of "While you were out" and while Katie and I were cooking dinner she transformed our living room and kitchen. She spoiled me with way too many new things (curtains, place mats, clock, pictures, etc). I am SO impressed with how great it looks! JR was a big help in us re-upholstering our kitchen chairs and they look amazing too! I feel like we have a new home :) But there is no doubt I could not have done it without my mom and katie!!!

Wonderful weekend with family and friends

We had an amazing time with our special visitors! My mom, Katie and her dog Joe came to visit us. It was only my mom's 2nd time coming and Katie's first so it was very special to have them in our home!!! On Friday when they arrived around 430, they all came to watch my intramural ultimate frisbee game. They are both such good cheerleaders, even though they really had never seen the game be played before. We came home that night and had a girl's night, as JR was at a Men's conference. Amy came to join us and we cooked dinner and sat around catching up with girl talk... what we do best! We even broke out Cathster's infamous pencil test haha! So much fun
On Saturday we set out on a mission~ headed to the fabric store to update the decor in my house. (Another post all about this soon). We had a great day shopping and then came back and had a cook out. I really wanted them to get to meet our friends so that they would know who we spend most of our time with. Richmond and Elizabeth, BJ and Amy, and Jay, Christina, Maisy, Lily and Isaac Todd all came. And as I would have suspected, Mom and Katie fell in love with everyone immediately. I am sure you can tell in the pictures that they quickly had their hearts stolen by the Todd children especially.. which is so easy to do :) We had a wonderful evening eating, fellowshipping and sharing lots of laughter! Hope you enjoy the pictures.. sorry I am a little partial to the kiddos so there are a ton of them :)

White girls CAN jump

Hahah but only a little bit :) Wow that is sad! Check out my mad jumping skills.. haha NOT!!! What is that like 2 inches off the ground? Thank goodness my team does not look to me for my jumping skills right? But hey we won last night.. yahoo!!!
To view all the pictures go to my 2nd picasa web album (the link is on the right hand side toward the bottom).

Obviously I am back in action with intramurals, both volleyball and ultimate frisbee. Both sports I do not have a ton of skill in, but it is fun to learn! I play on Tuesday, Thursday and Fridays which is a lot, but it only last for about a month and I am enjoying the competition :) So sorry it has been a while since my last post. I have been super busy and this week has gone by way too fast! I am excited to say that we are having visitors this weekend... mom and Katie are driving up today and are staying through Monday!!! Mom has been here once before, and Katie has never been, so I cannot wait to have them here with me :) JR will be at a men's conference so it will give us plenty of girl time!!!

I hope everyone has a GREAT weekend. I am sure I will have a ton of pictures to post come Monday :)

Amazing story of God's plan for one girl

Check out this amazing story that was featured on the Today Show. There were 2 girls that went to the same college in a bad accident, where one lived and the other did not. The police did a poor job of identifying them, as they both looked similar with blond hair an such, and ended up getting them mixed up. One family was called and given the bad news that their daughter had died, the other was told theirs was on a coma (each family being told of the other girl since they got them confused). Anyways, for several months one family set by this girl's side until she woke up from her coma. Then after she said some interesting things and wrote down the wrong name when they told her to write her name, they figured it out that it was in fact not the girl they thought it was. That meant that the family who had buried their daughter (or what they thought was their daughter), got a phone call saying that she was actually alive months later! Can you honestly imagine? After her funeral and everything.... HOLY COW! And through out it all they credit God as having an amazing plan for their daughter all along. You can check out their blog as well. Incredible!

Baby girl gifts

Missy's niece is turning 1 this week and she called to see if I could make her something special. Well tell me what you think? I really think they turned out pretty good. Of course every time I do something, I learn something new ha! I wanted to get a lot of sewing done this weekend, however dummy me... right after I had finished this project I started cooking dinner Friday night and decided to cut my left pointer open with a knife. Dont worry I am surviving and no stitches were involved but there was LOTS of bleeding and a huge bandage, which made it very hard to finish the other project :(

Soon though... and soon for the website as well!!!

John Deer Queen

Jordan asked me help make her friend from GA a gift for her baby girl that is coming soon. She thought it would be cute to do John Deer in Pink, since her friend is an Up-town GA girl and would probably be getting enough ribbons, lace and bows :) I think they turned out pretty cute!! It was my first attempt at making my own bib too!!!! Cant wait to make lots more PINK things for Baby Girl Lewis, as well as all the other soon to be babies. Sewing is so much fun :)

A much needed relaxing weekend

JR and I did NOTHING all weekend long and it was WONDERFUL!!! We really did just lay on the couch and watch basketball the entire time. It was great to forget about homework, cleaning and sewing projects and just veg out while watching some killer basketball games! Boy did our VOLS sure scare me to death... goodness gracious. They better get their act together, that is all I can say :)

We had a great Easter Sunday. As you can see, the Easter bunny did not forget about JR this year... of course not ha! He has the best Easter bunny in the world! And I thank my mom for yet another Easter dress.... and no I am not too big for that yet nor do I ever think I will be :)
