Leg Cramps OUCH!!!

I woke up this morning with my first pregnancy leg cramp at 6:30am and all I can say is OUCH! Holy Cow it hurts so bad... and yes it is still hurting currently. I tried to rub it out and it just wouldnt go away. Then when I couldnt go back to sleep I decided to get up and realized I couldnt even put pressure on my foot b/c my heel would not completely go down. Dr. Mom said eat a banana, take tylenol and put a heating pad on it so that is what I am doing now. Tabitha also had mentioned some lotion she got at Babies R Us that helped as well.

Anyone else have any suggestions????

I got those so bad with Cade! I always got them in the middle of the night and would practically fall out of bed. It would even wake Heath up, and he would help rub it out. I think your mom's suggestion is good. Hopefully you will not get too many!

Gosh thanks for reminding me about those Horrible Charlie Horses (cramps)! :-0 I got them all the time with Brylee too!! Early in the Mornings, They would wake Bryan up as well...I laugh about them now(I know its not really funny) and how fast I would grab at my let and try to stretch it out and Bryan trying to help me half asleep!!..But man did they hurt...Doing what your mom said will help, Banana's are really good for your legs period!

ummm dear, i get those leg cramps/charley horses at least once a month and i'm not pregnant :-)

when i get them, i first of all scream like i'm being shot and then after that (ha ha ha) i try to straighten my leg out and rub it, its supposed to help, but rarely does so i just lay there banging my fist on the bed until it passes breathing like i'm in labor ha ha ha, its hilarious to watch i am sure. i'm a dork :-)

anwyho, i get them when i get too hot, so i've banned myself from sleeping in socks/sweat pants/etc. My Mom always says its a calcium thing and to eat more bananas, who knows.

But, they do shuck BIG TIME!

I say increase your milk intake as well as water throughout the day in addition to eating a banana. I would hold off on the Tylenol though because it is a muscle pain that can easily be taken care of by stretching and trying the above suggestions first. If all else fails go for meds. I remember these pains so well and wish you the best of luck with them.
PS-have JR rub your legs for you wen this happens.

That lotion is a miracle worker I'm telling you. I couldn't have made it without it I don't believe! HA! If/When I get pregnant again, that will be the first purchase I make!!

Take 2 Tums before bed every night. Sounds crazy but the calcium helps!

Calcium, bananas, LOTS of water, heat and Tylenol if it gets out of hand. Oh and a leg massage nightly from your sweet hubby. and LOTS of water.
I love you!

wow I had really forgotten all about those. I had no idea what it was the first time I got mine I thought I was seriously hurt, lol. It continued to hurt for 2-3 days. The only thing anyone told me was to rub it until the really bad part stops. I hope you don't have heartburn I did with both of mine non-stop. Tums were my very best friend. I don't think you will get to many of those nasty cramps, I can only remember it happening a couple of times.

Oh Lindsey! I feel your pain... that happened to me a couple of months ago. I was told to straighten my leg and point my feet towards me. I've had it happen twice... the first time was a killer... the second time I tried what I was told... and it hurt but then it instantly went away.
