Week 24

Today is week 24 for us and I will have to say that it has really hit me this week that we are having a baby join us soon! I know that is crazy since I have been pregnant for awhile now but honestly it was all just very surreal. From my body changing to feeling him kick inside me, it has all been wonderful, but still just not seeming very real to me.. almost as if I am just dreaming. However this week after coming home from TN for the holidays it hit me in a whole new way. Monday I started unpacking all of the gifts Griffin had received over Christmas and putting them in place in his room and then I did 4 loads of his laundry! We have totally been blessed already with clothes and such and I am loving my hand me downs from our nephew Tristan. Thanks Leann :) Anyways as I was folding his first load of laundry I all of a sudden looked up at my sister Rachel and said, "Wow I am doing my son's laundry!" Crazy the things that hit you but that was one of the biggest "holy cow I am going to be a mom" moments I have had so far ha!!!

I am still feeling great and Griffin is still kicking up a storm. We will go back to the doctor for another checkup and next week we start the 3rd trimester!!!

His first load of laundry... such tiny clothes!

and some clothes already hanging in his closet too!

How your baby's growing: Your baby's growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. That puts him at just over a pound. Since he's almost a foot long (picture an ear of corn), he cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but his body is filling out proportionally and he'll soon start to plump up. His brain is also growing quickly now, and his taste buds are continuing to develop. His lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help his air sacs inflate once he hits the outside world. His skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon.

  3. You have the pregnancy glow Lindsey! You do look great! I know what you mean about the "aha" Mom moments. It really hit me the night before when my Mom came to pick up Cooper and I started sobbing! Brad was like, "get a grip"! Ha! The pregnancy hormones dont help either... LOL
